Media training tips 28 October

Every day on the @harveyleach Twitter account, we publish a media training tip with the hashtag #dailymediatrainingtips. Here are the tips from this week:

• Go with your key messages from the very start of an interview. You can always amplify them later
• Answer the question and then explain why you’ve arrived at that conclusion, not the other way round
• Take the opportunity to speak about your personal involvement in your organisation’s work
• Don’t get involved in a journalist’s flippant line of questioning
• When your organisation has a problem, acknowledge it. Don’t call it an “issue”
