How many people can attend a media training course?
As a general rule, in any media training group, there should be between one and five participants. This allows for optimum levels of personal attention and participant interaction, while keeping downtime to a minimum.
With a group of more than five people, you run the risk of too much sitting around and waiting while interviews are being recorded, and individual needs not being properly identified and addressed.
However, we can work with you to design a training programme which fits your specific needs. For example, if you are trying to get a large group trained on a tight budget, you can get up to ten trained for the price of a full day’s training by training five in the morning and five in the afternoon.
The length of the training course will depend on the number of participants and the number of interview exercises to be included. Again, we can help you based on your specific requirements. As a rough guide, in a full day’s training course you should be able to put five people through five interview exercises each.
Where does the training take place?
Most of our training takes place at our clients’ own offices. Our camera crews are expert at recreating studio conditions in office meeting rooms, and this is often the most convenient option for our clients. However, we can also arrange training at working broadcast studios.
What information do we need to provide before the training?
We will need names and job titles of participants plus some realistic and relevant material upon which we can base our interview exercises. Media training courses work best when the interview topics are those that the participants are likely to speak to the media about. Press releases, Q&A papers, internal presentations or position papers are the kind of documents that will help the tutor to prepare for the interviews and to make them as realistic as possible.
How much notice do I need to give to arrange a course?
We can arrange training in as little as 24 hours – or at even shorter notice if a client has an urgent request. However, the more notice we are given, the more likely we are able to find a date that suits you.
