Radio studio interviews

Radio is a more intimate medium than television and therefore throws greater focus on you, the interviewee.

Some spokespeople think radio is easier than TV because there are no cameras etc. In a way, though, you are more on your own, as there are no pictures, computer graphics or other visual aids to support you.

It's just you and the listener, and radio quickly exposes interviewees who are wooden, jargon-ridden or aren't clear about what they want to say.

Our radio studio interview training covers:

  • The fast pace of the radio news interview
  • Adjusting to the programme style
  • Painting pictures on radio
  • Talking to the listener
  • Keeping the audience's attention
  • Importance of voice/tone
  • Energy and enthusiasm
