A leading home insurance company – seeking to raise its profile in the media – called in HarveyLeach for two full-day courses
“Good feedback, challenging and good preparation for any future issues that may arise”
“Benefited from the opportunity to practise in a real life situation”
A leading high street bank called in HarveyLeach for five half-day courses for senior staff right across the organisation
“Have benefited hugely – feel now more able/confident to start engaging with the media”
“Good session, very interactive and practical”
“Very well delivered and presented – I learned a great deal”
We conducted a half-day press course for an international bank, represented in around fifty countries. Training scenarios varied widely. One participant was interviewed about sponsoring a marathon; another about highly technical aspects of securitisation.
"Very good. Showed how a straightforward story can be turned against you."
"Surprisingly incisive - highlights real vulnerabilities and weaknesses"
A major financial services organisation wanted to adopt a higher profile, putting forward "good news" stories without delivering too much of a hard sell. They needed practice too in responding fairly to customer complaints. We spent a day taking delegates through a variety of scenarios and interview types. The result was a big increase in confidence, and a new belief that it really was worth seeking out media opportunities.
"An excellent day and highly recommended"
"Tutors with real media experience, giving insights and reassuring the delegates"
"Professional, thought through and provided relevant insights into each of the scenarios we are likely to face"
The need for large organisations to talk to the world in ways the world understands was highlighted in a series of top-level courses for a major international bank. A series of press and radio interviews - based on each participant's expert knowledge - was used to illustrate how jargon erects a barrier, and how apparently complex issues can be explained simply.
"Real life interviews by a well-known expert"
"A great session - well delivered and very informative"
"The knowledge and training I got out of it is invaluable"
Two courses on handling press, TV and radio interviews for a leading financial services company focussed on conveying key messages in a concise manner. In the press training, we concentrated on interview content but also on how the participants were coming across to the interviewer, for example whether they were enthusiastic or downbeat. By the end, the participants felt less intimidated by an interviewer.
"It made me understand interviews from the interviewer's perspective. Practical experience is what makes the difference."
"The tutor clearly has great experience and is able to share it very effectively and relate it to our subject areas."
"Highly skilled interviewers, searching and realistic scenarios."
A leading internet and telephone bank called us in to give their senior management team an overall introduction to broadcast and handling difficult media questions. And the managers, by their own admission, found themselves surprised by the questions the media - and their customers - were likely to raise. A series of print and broadcast interviews was used to test their responses.
"Realistic and delivered by experts"
"Excellent - I feel I've made genuine progress during the day"
"Very good, very supportive, very informative"
A major asset management business, part of one of the world's largest financial services organisations, called us in to train media spokespeople in how to effectively reach viewers and listeners when talking about investment solutions. Much of the course dealt with cutting out jargon; the day started with a steady flow of in-house language like "income stream". By the end of the course the participants were talking in listener-friendly language.
"Engaging and practical. The tutors understood the issues that we face and the target audience that we need to address"
"Thought-provoking and relevant - delivered skills that can be applied in the workplace immediately"
A top-end-of-the-market financial services company called us in to help make its image less elite, and at the same time widen its appeal to a broader range of customers. We worked through a range of scenarios with top managers, showing them how to use the media to talk straight and simply to customers and potential customers. At the end, they felt confident that using everyday language and examples really worked - and did not lower their standing as experts.
"Very enjoyable and much needed"
"Very useful. Feedback was constructive and relevant"
"Real, challenging and useful feedback"
