With aid workers increasingly in the front line when conflicts erupt, a major international agency put its communications staff through a training course on handling a political controversy involving one of its staff in the field. Part of the day was given over to handling the media whenever the agency responds to a natural disaster somewhere in the world.

We conducted two courses for an international children's organisation. Among the issues we focussed on - child poverty, prostitution and lack of education. Participants were encouraged to tell the 'human story' - to recount personal encounters they had had with children during visits to stricken parts of the world.
