A leading pharmacy chain, planning the opening of a major new branch, turned to HarveyLeach to train all their managers involved in the launch.

A national pub chain set us an unusual challenge. They wanted to test their reaction to an accident involving a customer at one of their pubs - and they wanted to sharpen their skills not only in front of the cameras, but also in a magistrates' court if called to account by the Health and Safety Executive. So we used a real JP for the courtroom sequence (with a local newspaper reporter writing up the proceedings). And then, as each candidate stepped outside the court, the cameras and the media scrum were waiting...

"It was great to receive the benefit of the tutors' experience"

"Very professional presentation and approach"

"Would recommend it to anyone who may find themselves at the wrong end of a camera!"

"Practical, relevant, and well-structured"

"Completely opened my eyes about media interviews"

A High Street pharmacy chain needed to get across very important information about the changing role of the pharmacist. There was a risk that the public might misunderstand the changes, and feel less secure about the advice they were receiving. We used a series of interviews to make sure that a correct, simple and reassuring message was delivered.

"Great learning experience"

"Enthusiastic, knowledgeable and encouraging tutors"

"I feel much less daunted about carrying out an interview"

"Well planned and professionally run"

A top UK company was concerned that its charging policy was misunderstood and mistrusted by the public. The task was to train the management team to spell out the complex business issues involved, in language that the man in the street - their customer - could understand. TV interviews were used in conjunction with a series of press interviews to practice and sharpen positive, convincing messages.

"Very good and enjoyable day - a short sharp shock"

"Practical and informative"

"Useful and thought-provoking"

One of the UK's biggest companies, with a strong retailing arm, called us in to look at how top managers could best explain and promote the company's expansion plans - without appearing too aggressive or profit-focussed. The result was a day spent developing clear messages, and then testing them in the heat of TV interviews. One result was clear proof that promotional messages, delivered with enthusiasm, can be appealing and fun.

"Outstanding - I have a great deal more confidence now"

"Extremely useful - concise and to the point"

"Excellent - great to get an insight into the media through the tutor's eyes"
